Sir,
With reference to Mr. Cowell's letter of the 21st. May
(53519/2/37) I am directed to state that the Colonial
Appointments Selection Committee at their meeting on the
19th instant decided to recommend Miss Barbara Mary Draycon
for appointment as Assistant Mistress of Mathematics in
the Education Department, Hong Kong. They also decided to
recommend Miss Bertha Smedley as reserve candidate.
Particulars of the qualifications and experience of the
above-named candidates will be found in the accompanying
papers.
The Selection Committee were assisted on this occasion
by the Director of Education for Hong Kong who agreed with
the above recommendations.
